With a 49-19 victory at Iowa State on Saturday, West Virginia improved to 9-2, their best season since joining the Big 12 in 2012.
The Mountaineers scored 21 points off turnovers and racked up 4 passing touchdowns of at least 30 yards.
Senior QB Skylar Howard had one of his most impressive games with 5 touchdown passes and 330 yards on just 12 completions. He now ranks third in career total offense at WVU with 7,848 yards.
WR Shelton Gibson finished with 161 yards on just 3 catches, including a 71-yard touchdown catch.
With an injury-riddled running back corps, the Mountaineers were forced to burn Martell Pettaway’s redshirt. The freshman RB had an impressive college debut with 181 yards and a touchdown on 30 carries.
Cornerback Rasul Douglas achieved his eighth interception of the season, and is now tied with Florida State’s Tarvarus McFadden with most NCAA interceptions.
