The sweltering heat didn’t deter 1,022 die-hard Mountaineer fans from crowding in to the Caperton Indoor Practice Facility on Sunday afternoon for a chance to get up close and personal with this year’s WVU football team and coaches.
Throughout the steamy afternoon, the blue-and-gold faithful stood in long lines and anxiously awaited their turn to meet the players. And the players appeared just as excited as the fans as they answered questions and signed helmets, posters, shirts and other paraphernalia.
I can’t think of a better way to kick off the football season than with WVU Fan Day.

Ross Barber was a chatty fellow. He regaled us with stories of Fan Days of past and Major Harris, who used to work in his father's restaurant in college. The big guy is now an elementary school teacher.

The Shrewsberry family from Morgantown have been coming to Fan Day since their oldest son, Jay, was 6 months old. Jay, 9, and his brother, Josh, 6, love meeting the players
